COMPLETION: July 31. 2010
RESPONSIBILITY: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Project Management, Civil & Utilities Engineer, and Design Services During Construction

As part of the Eastside LRT Partners, Joint Venture Team Barrio Planners Incorporated (BPI) is responsible for the adaptive use and conversion of a 6,950 SF prefabricated steel structure. As the lead architect and project manager, BPI is responsible for the delivery of a design build bid package. The design of the building is unique in that all the design modifications of the building are done within the existing shell walls of the prefabricated metal building structure in order not to disturb the exterior of the building.

The building also features new mechanical applications, including a train ground hoist, wheel truck hoist, and ground level dust collection system which will be used to service the new Ansaldo-Breda P2550 trains. The trains are constructed of stainless steel and will not use traditional body shop methods. BPI is working closely and collaborating with Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) and Jenkins/Gales/Martinez (JGM), which have provided the Track-work and Overhead Contact System and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineer for the project.
