BPI was responsible for the design of the 0.85 mile public improvements and street beautification along San Fernando Rd. The work included the beautification of 25,000 sf. on four odd shape islands in the converging of San Fernando Rd. and Truman St. in Sylmar, CA.

These islands are the Gateway into the city which was designed for high visibility while maintaining low height for pedestrian safety from vehicles. Work also consisted of the addition of four (4) median islands, decorative parkways, sidewalk improvements, pedestrian lighting, and enhanced bus stops. Other amenities included bike racks, a rest area along existing bike lane, and sidewalk landscape buffer area in-between the street and bike lane along Amtrak property.
